Studio Visits are evening-length hybrid performance events, offering audiences a multi-angled view of the featured artist and their craft. Each Studio Visit includes an introduction by the artist, a presentation of new work-in-process, a critical response essay by a guest artist, and a Q&A. The guest artist for this Studio Visit is Helga Davis.

Fire on the Mountain is a performative work conceived and created by Renegade Performance Group artistic director, André M. Zachery in collaboration with composer Charles Vincent Burwell and sound artists Jeremy Toussaint-Baptiste and Jessie Nelson. Commissioned by Harlem Stage for the 90th Anniversary of James Baldwin, the work re-adapts selected Baldwin texts into punk songs – changing nothing, but adding everything. Premiered at E-Moves 2015 at Harlem Stage, the work was hailed by music/cultural icon STEW (Passing Strange – Tony Awards 2009) as being “kick-ass”, “…work that is so much itself that it just carves out its own space”, and “…the best rock show I’ve seen in ages and yet they aren’t really a band in the boring sense of the word.”
